Like a bolt out of the blue, Square Enix has released the original Octopath Traveler on PS5 and PS4, and it's available now. The critically acclaimed JRPG was originally exclusive to Switch, released some six years ago, and just yesterday, we learned it was rated for release in Taiwan. Now, it seems Square Enix has decided to hit the big, red «launch» button with minimal fanfare.
Spotted by the ever-reliable Wario64 on Twitter, Octopath Traveler is now rolling out on PSN. It's already available in the US (and Australia, we can confirm) and will cost $60USD or your local equivalent, although there is a discount for PS Plus members. Square Enix has since made things official and is even offering a bundled pack of both games if you're interested. In addition, Octopath Traveler II has received an update, adding a new battle mode that lets players take on new challenges, such as fighting the cast of the first game.
