The announcement of a new game added to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog in March seems to be taking an aim at its competitor, Xbox Game Pass. Depending on the PS Plus subscription tier, players have access to a full library of titles they can download and play, even if they do not own them properly. Each month, new games are added to the library, essentially offering more benefits. The catalog was added once Sony remodeled its subscription service.

The post on PlayStation Blog also reveals that,,,,, and several classic games are making their way into the PS Plus Catalog this month. The noteworthy addition, however, is Capcom’s , which seems to provoke competition with Xbox Game Pass.
The addition of to Sony’s subscription service seems to be a way of increasing its competitive value in the face of Xbox Game Pass. The remake of Capcom’s classic survival horror game arrived on Microsoft’s service in February, and now, Sony is also offering the game in the PS Plus Game Catalog. While it does not state its intent, the proximity of the title’s inclusion in the library to its addition to Game Pass is suspicious, especially considering the two companies’ competitive history.
Nevertheless, it does ultimately make PS Plus a better service for clients. Not only does the game have immense value due to its popularity, but it can also effectively attract more players to get to know the Game Catalog service. Players who see the remake of a classic title such as this may be enticed into signing up and, with it, they can end up testing out several other games available in PS Plus’ constantly updated library.
