Several trophies in Helldivers 2 require the Automatons, but they've been reduced to scrap metal as the community wiped them off the face of the Galactic Map.
That means the Platinum is impossible to get for anyone who missed those three trophies while the Automatons were still slaughtering Helldivers. At least, for now.
It's unlikely the Automatons will stay dead. But even if they miraculously never come back as game master Joel introduces other enemies like the Illuminate, the war campaign may simply reset as it did in the first game. In that case, it's a matter of waiting before you can scrounge up the last few trophies.
However, as many point out, the Automatons could have a base of operations beyond the Galactic Map. If so, we've only put an end to their front line and they'll be right back with even more vigour and a cold, metallic vengeance.
There's also the matter of their Cyborg creators who are being held on Cyberstan. The Automaton fight could have been a distraction as they worked to liberate their masters, meaning that we've played right into their hands. After all, we still don't have answers to what the cloaked warships were doing in their airspace.
So, while you can't get three of the trophies right now if you missed them and, by extension, the Platinum, it's very unlikely that it'll stay impossible to get.
The Automatons were defeated in a suspiciously short amount of time, even faster than the Terminids so much of the community preferred to fight. Joel definitely has something up his sleeve.
But until we find out what exactly he has planned for the next stage in the war, the Platinum is off the table. Though something tells me that the next time the Automatons attack, it'll be much harder to get those three trophies than before.
Helldivers 2 is the sequel to the third-person shooter from Arrowhead Game Studios. This time out, the Helldivers are deep in the Galactic War, and it's up to you to bring Managed Democracy to the masses.
