The Hallowfall questline is available for testing on the alpha this week. At this stage, cutscenes are described rather than shown — and the description of a scene at the end of the zone's storyline is particularly interesting… and concerning.
A large part of the Hallowfall questline involves dealing with an onslaught of the Nerubians, who are attacking the zone under Xal'atath's orders. During a particularly deadly battle during which we're being swarmed by Nerubians, we board the Reckoning — an Arathi airship — to slay the creatures from the air. It is at this point that the cutscene plays.
As usual, the scene is described rather than shown, but it has been given the rather worrying title, «Anduin is Lost». As we climb aboard the ship with Faerin and Alleria, we apparently manage to leave Anduin behind. As the rest of us watch «in horror», Anduin is enveloped by the horde of Nerubians.
We manage to fight off the Nerubians, but it's the last we see of Anduin. Hallowfall's story ends shortly afterwards, and by the look of things, it will be our hunt for Anduin that takes us into Azj-Kahet. No doubt, the Nerubians will want to take him to Xal'atath.
For now, at least, it seems safe to assume Anduin is alive. After all, he's no stranger to being kidnapped and held captive by an evil purple woman with the body of a dead elf. If Xal'atath spends any time with him, there's also at least a 5% chance he'll have her reforming her ways by the end of the expansion. On the other hand, Xal'atath might just be the person to help Anduin discover the joys of being a Shadow Priest. Either way, he'll be fine… We hope.
