A devoted fan's reimagined Elden Ring with a detailed pixel animation. FromSoftware's critically acclaimed open-world action RPG has retained a sizable fanbase since its 2022 debut, and with the looming release of the highly anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, many artists are finding new inspiration in Elden Ring's expansive world once again.
Elden Ring was a true landmark title for developer FromSoftware, with players and critics alike amazed by the fruit of what was arguably the studio's grandest project to date. One of the elements that contributed to its success was its many difficult and memorable enemies, many of whom were infamous among the player base for the grueling challenge they provided. This included bosses like Malenia, Starscourge Radahn, and Margit. These characters have inspired countless pieces of art from fans all over the world, and one user in particular has even redesigned Elden Ring in a pixel art style.
Reddit user and artist Mr3sk posted their take on an Elden Ring retro-style action game, which featured a pixel redesign of Maliketh, the Black Blade and the Crumbling Farum Azula legacy dungeon. Mr3sk included a praiseworthy level of detail in the piece, as can be seen in the way Maliketh's armor gleams when his model breathes. The background of the artwork additionally features several eye-catching elements, such as the many dragons soaring beneath the clouds and the colossal remains of the ruined city floating all around the borders.
This also wasn't the first time Mr3sk posted a piece of pixel art for Elden Ring or FromSoftware's other beloved titles. In the two years since Elden Ring's release, the user has uploaded several posts that included pixel illustrations featuring the Tarnished, Torrent, and Millicent. They also previously posted an adorable pixel animation for Elden Ring's Mohg, the Lord of Blood, which followed the same style as their piece on Maliketh.
