Pikmin is finally getting another game after fans have patiently waited for nearly a decade. Pikmin 4 was announced at last year's Nintendo Direct and will bring a colorful assortment of the half-plant, half-whatever critters that the series is known for. It's also bringing an entirely new feature to the franchise: the ability to create your own Rescue Corps Captain.
In today's "Rise to the Occasion" trailer, we get the lowdown on what's happening in Pikmin 4. Apparently, Captain Olimar crashes on a "mysterious planet", calls for help, and then the rest of the Rescue Corps also crash while trying to save Captain Olimar. It's up to you to save everyone.

And because it's you doing the saving, Pikmin 4 features a character customization screen for the first time in franchise history. The trailer shows you'll be able to customize your skin tone, hair and hair color, spacesuit, and name, and be able to pick from 10 different pre-configured faces featuring different eyes, nose, and cheek dots. They all still have the same open-mouthed "O" face, unless you pick the large body type which comes with a permafrown. There's also small, medium, and tall body types to choose from, but they don't seem to have much effect on your mouth.
Don't worry about whatever you choose while making your Rescue Corps Captain because you can change it later during gameplay. Same with your name in case you come up with a better one later on.
Pikmin 4 also represents a reversal in the number of characters you control. In Pikmin 1 you took the reins of Captain Olimar, while in Pikmin 2 you controlled Olimar and Louie at various points. Pikmin 3 handed Alpha, Brittany, and
