An unlucky Kiriko player in Overwatch 2 has been brutalized by an opposing Pharah immediately after teleporting to their low-health Widowmaker. Overwatch 2 recently started its ninth season, named Champions, which primarily focuses on reworking the Competitive suite, resetting the ranks of all players, and adding the new Champion rank. The new season also introduced a mythic skin for Moira as part of its eldritch horror-themed battle pass.
Debuting with the launch of Overwatch 2 next to Sojourn and Junker Queen, Kiriko quickly became one of the game's more popular support heroes. Having trained alongside Genji, Kiriko wields deadly kunai blades in one hand and slings healing ofuda to teammates with the other. One of the hero's more useful traversal abilities, Swift Step, allows Kiriko to quickly teleport to any ally within 35 meters, even through walls. The ability has led to Kiriko players getting caught up in some dangerous and hilarious situations since she's been on the roster.
On Reddit, Kiriko player Leading_Ad_9197 has shared a chaotic clip involving the use of Kiriko's Swift Step. In the short video, Kiriko comes out of their spawn during overtime on the Esperanca Push map. With their team in possession of the lead and the Overwatch 2 Push robot, the Kiriko player spots their Widowmaker who's in need of health in the flank building ahead. Upon teleporting to the Widow, the Kiriko player immediately gets bombarded with a full barrage of missiles at point-blank range from the opposing Pharah's ultimate, who was also in the room seemingly hunting the Widow. Both Widowmaker and Kiriko perish in the blink of an eye.
It's quite strange that the Pharah would blow their whole ultimate on a low-health Widowmaker and Kiriko, no less on the ground in a small flank room. Pharah's ultimate is best used up in the air looking down from behind the enemy line. As one commenter under the post humorously put it, this seemed personal.
