Official promotional material has already revealed the existence of at least one new evolution coming in the DLC, Archaludon, which will be accompanied by the introduction of two new Paradox Pokémon. However, it seems that Duraludon won't be the only known Pokémon to see its evolutionary tree grow.
Held items add a new dimension to any Pokémon battle, dramatically widening the scope of strategy through how they synergize with various Pokémon, moves, and environmental conditions. Even giving Pokémon items with a clearly negative effect can still be useful under the right circumstances. Many items' effects are only activated under certain conditions, such as when a Pokémon uses a particular variety of moves or suffers a specific kind of damage. Now, one such item has proven that a Pokémon found in will receive a new evolution in upcoming content.
Eviolite is an item that boosts a Pokémon’s Defense and Special Defense in battle, so long as the Pokémon in question is not fully evolved. What makes this item especially notable in the wake of ’s release is that it affects Dipplin, the new candy apple-themed evolution of Applin. The fact that Dipplin is affected by Eviolite implies that it is intended to be able to evolve once more, despite there being no official mention of such an evolution at this time. Because of this, it seems most likely that Dipplin will soon be able to evolve into a new form as part of DLC.
