Mojang has ended support for Minecraft Dungeons.
Co-developed by the Microsoft-owned studio and Double Eleven, the multiplatform dungeon crawler spin-off was released in May 2020.
In a blog post published on Thursday, Mojang claimed the title had reached a new milestone by surpassing 25 million unique players.
It also confirmed that last November’s 1.17 patch was the game’s final update, and that the team “has now moved on to new projects that continue to explore experiences in the Minecraft universe”.
“This means that there are no new features or content updates planned for the game.,” it said. “We do intend to continue bringing new experiences to the Minecraft universe and give our team the freedom to keep exploring the types of games they’re passionate about – just as they did with Dungeons!”
Mojang’s annual Minecraft Live broadcast will air on October 15 at 10 am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST. It will feature news about Minecraft and Minecraft: Legends, including Minecraft Update 1.21, plus developer interviews and the winner of the 2023 mob vote, which sees players help decide what the studio should spend time developing.
Microsoft claimed this month that new ratings board listings for an Xbox Series X/S version of Minecraft are “not indicative” of plans to release a current-gen version of the game.
