Intel is rumored to launch its Meteor Lake CPU lineup with Core Ultra 7 & 5 chips first followed by Core Ultra 9 laptops in 2024.
The latest information comes from Golden Pig Upgrade at Weibo has disclosed that laptops will initially be released with Intel's Meteor Lake Core Ultra 7 and Core Ultra 5 CPUs, whereas the high-end Core Ultra 9 laptops will be coming to market in early 2024. The leaker also reports that Intel will directly be comparing the initial Meteor Lake CPU lineup against the existing Core i9-13900H Raptor Lake-H and AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS "Phoenix" APUs. These are high-end parts but not entirely the flagship since that segment is covered by the Core i9-13980HX/HK and the Ryzen 9 7940HS. It looks like both of these chips will have to wait for Core Ultra 9 "Meteor Lake" SKUs to be replaced.
It should also be mentioned that both of the chips mentioned here are 35-45W SKUs at the base clock whereas Intel Meteor Lake CPUs are expected to feature base TDPs of 28W. Also, it is also mentioned that there would be very few gaming laptops with Meteor Lake Core Ultra CPUs within them. By this, the leaker is referring to laptops with dGPUs. It is a welcome choice considering that Meteor Lake's own iGPU will be a big boost over previous-generation iGPUs and offer performance similar to low-end discrete chips. For those looking for better gaming performance, there might be some Core Ultra 9 options with discrete GPUs but the majority will stick with Raptor Lake-HX CPUs for now.
Now, while this news has surfaced for the first time, we have also been getting glimpses of it in the past. It was reported by us a while ago that the availability of high-end Meteor Lake laptops won't be extensively available until early 2024, after
