One Piece Odyssey launches July 26th on Nintendo Switch

One Piece Odyssey will be available for Nintendo Switch on July 26th, Bandai Namco has confirmed. The game originally released on January 12th, 2023 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. The Switch release of One Piece Odyssey will include the Reunion of Memories DLC, and extra outfits including the Traveling outfits, including the Sniper King’s Traveling Outfit, and the City of Water outfits.

In One Piece Odyssey players are able to switch between the different members of the Straw Hat Crew to take advantage of their unique abilities. Luffy’s unique ability is to use his stretchy arms to reach different areas of the map, Zoro can cut through obstacles, and Chopper can travel through small areas. The battle system is a classic turn based one to allow players to use unique abilities of the crew. There are Scramble Battle Areas in which several battles go on at once with crew members assigned to different enemy groups. Some battles have Dramatic Scenes in which random elements can take place, such as an enemy being more powerful due to the time of day or someone being unable to attack.

It’s touching to be able to revisit the people and places making up some of the series most iconic story arcs in a way that feels rich and immersive rather than skimmed-through and streamlined. Some quirks in the overworld exploration and a few combat design flaws might make this a but of an unpolished RPG on paper, but if you’ve spent the last two decades with Luffy and his crew, then the shine and charm of One Piece Odyssey is undeniable.”
