Several rare materials in are needed for players to level up members of their party or upgrade pieces of gear, and Ancient Sentinel Cores are one of the most elusive items to find with only a couple known locations in the world. Although players are capable of finding these Cores as random drops from enemies or in regions around Solistia, the rarity of these objects makes them difficult to find this way. By following the story chapters of a specific character, players are able to find Ancient Sentinel Cores in a reliable spot rather than grinding for the material through tedious fights.

Ancient Sentinel Cores are found within Chapter 2 of the Traveler Partitio's story, which players are able to find quickly if they choose to start with this character in as their main protagonist. The material may be found in an area called the Roque Factory, dropped by enemies that resemble lamps. If players have a character like Throné in their party, they can use the Thief's Steal ability to grab these Cores off the enemies without having to worry about them dropping the item. Other characters besides Throné may also learn this skill if players give them Thief as a Secondary Job through a Thieves License.

The only other known location of the Ancient Sentinel Cores is in the Wandering Woods by the Nameless Village. For players that are not close to Partitio's story location, this area represents the first and easiest way to find these materials that contribute to powerful party combinations in .

Players have reported that the Wandering Woods have the highest spawn rate of Ancient Sentinel Cores on enemies called Remnants in the world as of this time of writing, but
