The latest No Man's Sky update comes after a couple of very big ones. This new patch isn't as substantial as those, but it includes one of the most requested features: cross-save for all platforms. No Man’s Sky also jumps to PlayStation 5 Pro with its launch today. Finally, for Mass Effect fans, the N7 Day Celebration is here with the limited-time return of the Mass Effect themed expedition.
Many of us have multiple devices that we play on, and we spend time out of our homes, commuting, otherwise on the go, and with friends. Enter cross-save. For a game like this, the process has been a delicate one and a bit daunting, as the devs explain in the patch update. The nature of NMS means that saves might be incredibly detailed. There are players who've been there in the entire eight-year history of the game. Now, someone who played at launch on an older platform could even try to load up their game on the brand new PlayStation 5 Pro. Since that also came out today and is the newest platform.
Cross-save isn’t universally available yet, as it will have a beta first just to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible before they invite everyone over. Everyone can connect their platform accounts, and Hello Games will start inviting people from that list to the beta, letting the team have a variety of platforms and save sizes to test out before rolling out to everyone in the coming weeks.
Today is November 7th, and in the Mass Effect fandom, it is N7 Day. Back in 2021, one of the first expeditions ever launched in No Man's Sky was Mass Effect themed, letting you ultimately claim the Normandy and add it to your fleet. There have been many players joining the game since then and missed this opportunity. EA and BioWare have partnered with Hello Games to bring an overhauled version of this expedition back to let everyone get a chance over the next two weeks to add the ship to their collection.
