The New World team has announced that the first new season, Fellowship & Fire, would not be launching on March 28th as originally planned due to an issue.
“During our final rounds of testing we uncovered an issue with Seasons — Fellowship & Fire that needs to be resolved before launching, and we must delay the release. Our team is working diligently to address the issue and deliver this anticipated release as soon as possible, at the quality bar it deserves.”
It is notable that there’s no new date just yet, which makes sense if the team is still working on the issue. The issue is not known, but it’s clear that with this big change, Amazon Games wants to give it the strongest launch possible. Given that seasons are the new way to expect consistent New World updates, getting that foundation right is going to matter.
This month, the team has been previewing the many changes coming in the new season, along with introductions to some of the key players, and all of the details on the Season Pass rewards to potentially earn. Most recently, they took us into the Empyrean Forge, the upcoming new fiery Expedition on the way.
Amazon announced the switch over to a seasonal model back in February, and since then, have been preparing for the big changes ahead. The announcement did say that they’re looking to get Fellowship & Fire launched as soon as possible, so it’s likely that there will be at least some updates on this soon. Whether that will be a new date or more details, we’ll have to see.
