MultiVersus will no longer be available to download for new players and has been temporarily removed from digital storefronts like the PlayStation Store. This move might come as a surprise for those just following along at home, given that it was a detail squirrelled away in last week's Open Beta Update.
We knew that the free-to-play title would be going offline in June, which was something that caused some consternation amongst early adopters and the title's most dedicated fans. The hardcore will, of course, have had the game installed for months, but it is an unusual situation, all things considered.
Online play will still be available for players with the game currently installed up until the appointed 25th June date, but the whole situation seems like a nightmare for the developer, Player First Games, to navigate. It remains to be seen whether players will be keen to return after so much time away, with the 1.0 launch expected in early 2024.
