Insomniac Games, the first-party studio responsible for iconic PS5 titles like Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Marvel's Spider-Man, and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, has reportedly grown to employ over 500 developers.
The increased headcount was spotted on the company's LinkedIn page by eagle-eyed Redditors, which are currently split between Insomniac's three current projects, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Marvel's Wolverine, and a mysterious multiplayer project we know little about. For comparison, Naughty Dog, long considered the first amongst equals within PlayStations' first-party family, is estimated to have around 750 employees.
With the increased staff, it's possible the studio will hit the very stringent deadline for Wolverine, which Microsoft, at least, claims will be getting a 2023 release. If anyone can do it, after all, it's Insomniac. What do you think of the studio, which has been fruitful indeed and thus is now multiplying? Let us know in the comments section below.
Khayl Adam is the second best video game journalist Australia has ever produced, and his ambitions of world domination have (thus far) been curbed by the twin siren songs of strategy games and CRPGs. He has always felt an affinity with the noble Dachshund.
Insomniac do knock out quality games more regularly than naughty dog do with less staff
Hopefully this equates to far more quality side content and more Fleshed out systems in their two upcoming titles, and maybe breaking away from the comic book trap with other projects as well.
