After New World’s Fellowship & Fire update went live yesterday, beginning the new seasonal model, some who logged in found their equipped gear to be missing. After determining the issue was limited to meeting certain conditions, the team has begun to roll out a two-part fix.
Those impacted by the error noticed pretty quickly, naturally, and the team requested those affected to share in the bug reports section of the forums. After some time to investigate, a followup announcement confirmed that the issue was generally limited to those that had logged out while their characters were dead before the update was pushed live.
Today, Amazon Games held downtime to begin addressing the issue. The fix will come in two parts, but today’s downtime patched the issue so that it couldn’t happen to any more players (it also fixed a different bug preventing territory lifestyle buffs not applying correctly). Stopping the issue from happening was the more urgent part, but the more substantial fix will be in part two. This will be when they work to get all of the items back for those who had lost them with the glitch.
There will also be a compensation grant in the form of Marks of Fortune for those that had their items disappear. This is going to be given out separately from the patches to fix the issue itself.

“We’re also working diligently on a subsequent patch to grant the items those players lost, when the initial Season 1 — Fellowship and Fire Update was released.
To say THANK YOU for your patience and understanding, we’ll be providing impacted players with 50,000 Marks of Fortune asynchronously from the patch.”
