The Last of Us is an IP that has received nothing but adoration from the get go. Right from the first game, to the Left Behind DLC, to Part 2, the HBO series, and then the Part 1 remake, fans have showered praise on the Naughty Dog property no matter its format. So, it's pretty strange that the PC port for The Last of Us Part 1 is getting trashed.
This isn't for no reason though – the PC port has been having severe issues with bugs, crashes, and weird visuals. In fact, the visuals are so off-putting at times that 'Steam Deck Joel' has even become a meme. Despite Naughty Dog's efforts, the issues aren't entirely fixed as of yet, so some fans decided to take matters into their own hands. If you head on over to Nexus Mods, you'll find a number of mods to improve the game's performance and other issues.

Of course, these mods aren't 100 percent fixes, but the comments section suggests that at least some of them have improved performance, if not entirely fixed it. Some of the mods claim to be able to fix crashing issues, while others say they improve the performance. The results seem to be mixed, depending on the PC specs. And even then, there's a lot of tweaking to be done.
You can try your luck with these mods, but don't get your hopes up. Sooner or later, Naughty Dog is bound to fix the issues with the port. The developer came out and apologised for the condition of the Part 1 PC Port as well.
