Mortal Kombat Fans Vote Their Top 10 Favourite Characters
Mortal Kombat has one of the largest rosters among fighting games. From the early days of mostly human looking characters and palette-swapped ninjas, to Dragon Kings and a creepy bug lady, the character design and lore has come a long way. Not just that, even Kombatants from the very first game have evolved in personality and visually.
With such a wide variety of characters to choose from, it would be tough to pick your favourites. Yet, the Mortal Kombat Subreddit decided to give it a go anyway. AstroPug_ decided that they wanted to narrow down the community's top ten Mortal Kombat characters with a poll. One character would be added to the list each day, selected via comments and upvotes. It should be noted that the order of the list doesn't matter, due to the format of the poll.

The first thing you'll notice about the final list is that seven of the ten characters are, or used to be, bad guys. Firstly, the Sub-Zero on the list isn't Kuai Liang, but his evil brother Bi-Han, who took up the mantle before him. Weirdly, Bi-Han features twice on the list as he goes on to become Noob Saibot after he is killed.
It's no surprise that Scorpion is on the list. He's pretty much the mascot of the Mortal Kombat universe. However, his recent appearances as Hanzo Hasashi isn't as well received as his demonic alter ego. Still, Hiroyuki Sanada's portrayal of the character in the Mortal Kombat movie reminded us of why every one, including Ed Boon, loves him. He's on NetherRealm's logo, so it's not really subtle.
It should also be noted that six out of the ten are made up of the original palette-swapped Ninjas, with Reptile, Ermac, and Smoke making the list as well. Shang
