Operation Dread Factor, the second season of Rainbow Six Siege Year 8, arrives for everyone at the end of this month, but those who want to jump in early can experience the update on test servers today. Operation Dread Factor introduces the new Defender Fenrir, who is essentially R6S's version of the Scarecrow, as he wields mines that unleash fear gas that will impair your opponent’s vision. The season also offers a rework of the Consulate map, a revamp of the Shooting Range, and more. You can check out a gameplay trailer for Rainbow Six Siege Operation Dread Factor, below.
Here's a bit more information on new Defender, Fenrir.
“Fenrir is a Swedish Operator who will be joining the roster of Rainbow Six Siege defenders as part of the Redhammer squad, the explosive unit led by Thermite. His loadout includes a choice of the MP7 submachine gun or the SASG-12 shotgun for his primary weapon, as well as the Bailiff 410 revolver as his secondary and either a bulletproof camera or barbed wire.”
Unique Abilities
Meanwhile, here’s what to expect from the Consulate revamp…
“Consulate has received various tech and gameplay updates this season which affect all floors and sites to create more opportunities and a more balanced map with added complexity. Attackers spawns have also received some love to reduce frustrations and allow for a safer approach. Overall, the goal of these changes is to reduce map control from the outside and force Attackers to spend more time inside.”
In addition to Fenrir and the map rework, developer Ubisoft Montreal is also promising the aforementioned Shooting Range revamp, a new permanent Arcade playlist, the new “Observation Blocker” gadget, a buff for Grim, and more. You can check out the full Y8S2 patch
