Known journalist and leaker Jeff Grubb has taken to Twitter and has made mention of a possible new PlayStation handheld.
Earlier this week we reported that is said to be Sony announcing a new piece of hardware soon. According to leaker Tom Henderson, this new hardware will arrive before the rumored PlayStation 5 Pro model. "When this new hardware does get announced, it's going to be very interesting to see what the competition thinks of it", Henderson mentioned about this new hardware in a stream.
Whether this new Sony hardware is related to what Grubb has now been mentioning on Twitter is unknown, and although this isn't a confirmation of any sort, Grubb writes that he's heard about a "cloud-streaming handheld" from Sony. In addition, the journalist mentions that fans should keep their expectations in check regarding a possible PlayStation Vita successor.
"I am traveling to Super Nintendo World, but I see the reports about a potential Vita 2, and I would definitely scope down those expectations.", Grubb writes on Twitter. "I've only ever heard about a cloud-streaming handheld."
Unfortunately, Grubb didn't share more details about what he's heard about a possible cloud-streaming device portable device from Sony. As always with these kinds of rumors, take this 'information' with a fair pinch of salt as Sony hasn't confirmed the existence of a new portable PlayStation device. On the contrary, back in 2016, Sony's former CEO Jack Tretton said that the industry has shifted to non-gaming dedicated portable devices. "Now that I don't work there anymore, I think internally it was: 'This is a great machine, it's just too late.' The world has shifted to portable devices that aren't dedicated gaming machines," Tretton told IGN.
