Hello Games has released the Interceptor Update for No Man’s Sky, a fresh content drop that adds new Sentinel ships, corrupted planets and Sentinels, and makes some graphical improvements across a variety of platforms. In particular, it promises “a significant improvement to image quality in PSVR2.”
The Interceptor Update adds… well, the new interceptor ship class for all players. These were originally an expedition-exclusive reward, but they are now available for all and come alongside a whole host of new Sentinel tech. There’s unique Sentinel upgrades for these ships, but then there’s also the new Aeron Turbojet jet pack and Sentinel Multi-Tools.
You’l need to find and collect new radiant shards and anomalous crystals by visiting corrupted planets and battling corrupted Sentinels, which sprout glowing crystals from them. You can also take on Sentinel Capital ships, if you think you’re tough enough.
Amidst the latest vast patch notes, there’s also a number of graphical improvements. Dynamic Resolution Scaling and FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 are both in effect on Xbox platforms, there’s various memory optimisations on all platforms as well. Most importantly for PSVR 2 owners, there’s “a significant improvement to image quality in PSVR2” and an ability to move the pop-up menus and placement of wrist-mounted gear.
As you might remember, we were rather disappointed by the game’s initial turn-out on PSVR 2, so we’ll be diving back in to see what improvements we can find.
