A major free update for Cult of the Lamb has been released, with Relics of the Old Faith significantly adding a new post-game story, revamping bosses and enemies, and adding a new photo mode to boot.
The new post-game storyline emerges after defeating the final boss in the main story, a new otherworldly being giving the Lamb a new task. As you delve into this mode, you’ll run into the fact that every boss has been revamped with new and tougher attack patterns, as a way of adding more combat depth and difficulty in response to player feedback.
Each of the five weapon types now has a new heavy attack, such as the Axe being thrown like a boomerang, a ranged assault of Daggers or a tornado like spin attack with the Gauntlet.
Through the post-game you’ll be able to complete new challenges that give the opportunity to earn previously missed doctrines as well as new Follower abilities with necklaces and new forms. There’s also the titular Relics, giving which grant powerful new abilities, with the new character Chemach being their keeper who you will encounter while crusading.
Here’s the full Cult of the Lamb Relics of the Old Faith patch notes:
Cult of the Lamb was one of last year’s indie hits, Massive Monster’s quirky roguelite and cult simulator mash-up shepherded to release by Devolver Digital. In our review, Nic said, “I really can’t give enough praise to the team at Massive Monster for creating something unique and memorable, and also one of the best indie games I’ve played in a long time. Sure, there’s a few rough edges, but this charmingly bloodthirsty lamb that’s hell-bent on slaying the unbaalievers has earned a special place in my heart.”
