Bandai Namco has announced that a PlayStation-exclusive open beta for My Hero Ultra Rumble will begin on May 25.
The open beta will run until June 1 and will be playable on PS4, but is also compatible with PS5. The beta will showcase brand-new gameplay systems, specifically the Plus Ultra and Revival systems, as well as three new heroes and their unique abilities.
The Plus Ultra system allows players to exceed the limit of a character’s “quirk” technique level once the Plus Ultra gauge is maxed out, while the Revival system lets players revive allies by collecting items dropped by KO'd allies and special cards in the field.
Alongside the new gameplay systems, players will be able to test out Tenya Iida, Kaminari Denki, and Itsuka Kendo, on top of the original 12 characters from the closed beta. These include the anime's protagonist Izuku Midoriya and other iconic heroes and villains like All Might, Dabi, Himiko Toga, Katsuki Bakugo, Mt. Lady, Ochaco Uraraka, Shoto Todoroki, and more.
The free-to-play 24-player battle royale game will allow players to join one of eight three-player teams, giving fans of the popular anime series the chance to build their desired teams of Heroes or Villains. They'll need to combine the Quirks of their team and defeat the opposing seven teams in order to win.
My Hero Ultra Rumble was announced in July 2022 and is set to be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. An official release date has yet to be confirmed.
