Sony is reportedly aiming for a mid- to late November launch for the code-named Project Q streaming handheld device. The company has only confirmed the PS5 accessory will arrive sometime this year.
Insider Gaming owner Tom Henderson reported on the targeted release window for Project Q on Twitter. Henderson also was first to divulge details on the PlayStation console-to-handheld streaming handheld back in April. Sony officially unveiled Project Q at the PlayStation Showcase yesterday.
To be clear, Project Q isn't a dedicated handheld gaming system. Instead, the device--which sports an 8-inch screen--utilizes remote play to stream downloaded games from your PS5. The accessory also boasts all of the current DualSense controller features.
Sony plans to pull back the curtain further on Project Q «in the near future.» If the release date is truly six months away, the company still needs to reveal an official name and price point. Another important unknown detail is the battery life for the device.
Project Q wasn't the only accessory announced by Sony. There are also PlayStation earbuds on the way. Sony also showed off gameplay footage for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 yesterday and unveiled Helldivers 2. For more, check out all the biggest games and announcements from the PlayStation Showcase.
