The most prolific speedrunning charity marathon in video games returns this weekend, as Summer Games Done Quick 2023 is scheduled to begin this Sunday. The event will once again be held live, with the entire marathon being streamed on Twitch from the Hilton hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As usual, donations can be made to Doctors Without Borders throughout the marathon via the Games Done Quick website, with prizes given away to a lucky few donors as the week progresses.
The entirety of SGDQ 2023 can be viewed on the official Games Done Quick Twitch channel, with streaming scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM PT / 12:30 PM ET on Sunday, May 28. We've embedded the channel above, so use this page as a reference if you can't remember which channel to check out. Also, if you miss a speedrun you were looking forward to, you're in luck: The GDQ YouTube channel uploads every run separately within hours of the finish, so you will be able to catch up on every event you wish.
SGDQ 2023 will run continuously from May 28 to June 4, with a full schedule of speedruns designed to take place one right after the other (with a short break in between). While the full schedule is available on the event website, below we have listed a few events--and their starting times--which have us particularly excited, whether it's the first run for a game at an event like this or it's an old retro game that we love seeing get torn apart. We're not sure how a Ring Fit Adventure speedrun works, but we'll find out on day one.
A quick note: You might see on the official schedule that some speedruns are listed as «bonus games.» This means that a certain donation amount must be hit in order to «unlock» that run for the marathon. Any games marked with an asterisk
