Havik is the only locked character you'll see in the game's roster menu, but you can unlock him with a simple yet time-consuming method.

Jump into Mortal Kombat 1 and you'll find a roster of more than 20 fighters and Kameos spanning three decades of Mortal Kombat history to choose from. But only one of them, Havik, is locked to begin the game. There's no hint as to how you'll unlock him, but don't fret; the solution is actually rather easy, just not very quick. Here's how to unlock Havik in Mortal Kombat 1.
To unlock Havik, you need to only perform one task, though that task is hours long: You'll need to beat the main story (Kampaign?) mode. Havik isn't unlocked any sooner than finishing the 15th and final chapter, but once you do that, he is immediately unlocked for play.
Havik first made his debut in Mortal Kombat: Deception in 2004, so he's got some years behind him even though he's not as tenured as the series' long-standing mascots such as Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Raiden. Known as the Cleric of Chaos, Havik is something of a sadist who feels joy where pain ought to be, and who can self-repair even life-threatening injuries with a persistent smile on his face.
That smile persists because Havik's face is marked by an unsettling lack of epidermal skin, giving him a quasi-skeletal look below his nose. He also sports a top in the form of shoulder pads that leave plenty of space uncovered so he can show off his protruding ribs and other devastating feats of body mutilation. While this description may sound nauseating for the faint of heart, for Mortal Kombat fans this is merely Tuesday.
