The Rim of the World star Miya Cech has shared some new details about her long-awaited debut as Toph Beifong in Netflix‘s upcoming Season 2. Production on the next installment is still currently underway.
During a recent interview, Cech confirmed that her version of Toph Beifong will feature a few differences from the original animated character. However, she promises fans that her Toph will still retain what people had loved from the original show.
“She’s a little bit older so she’s not a little kid anymore. She is still that same spitfire, spunky character who gets to call a certain character ‘Twinkle Toes,'” Cech said (via Pacific Rim Video Press). “I think there are going to be a lot of things that the fans are going to remember from the animated series and a lot of things that are brand new.”
The ensemble cast is led by Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, and Dallas Liu as Zuko. Additional cast members include Daniel Dae Kim, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Lim Kay Siu, Ken Leung, Elizabeth Yu, Maria Zhang, C.S. Lee, Utkarsh Ambudkar, A Martinez, Yvonne Chapman, Tamlyn Tomita, and more. Besides Toph, more new characters are also expected to make their debuts in Season 2, including Chin Han as Long Feng, Hoa Xuande as Professor Zei, Justin Chien as King Kuei, Amanda Zhou as Joo Dee, Crystal Yu as Lady Beifong, Kelemete Misipeka as The Boulder, Lourdes Faberes as General Sung, and Rekha Sharma as Amita.
Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 will be based on the original animated series’ second installment titled Chapter 2 — Earth, which will see Aang, Katar, and Sokka searching for the right Earthbending master for Aang. The next installment hails from new showrunners Christine Boylan (The Punisher) and Jabbar Raisani (Lost in Space), with Dan Lin, Lindsey Liberatore and Michael Goi executive producing.
