It isn't just fear that the members of the Green Lantern Corps have to be wary of. The organization has a history of its most notable Lanterns being led astray by something much more powerful: knowledge of the future.
Since their creation, the one thing that stood in the way of the Green Lanterns doing their jobs was the Lanterns' abilities to feel fear. Because of the Yellow Light of Fear's proximity to the Green Light of Will on the Emotional Spectrum, fear could taint a Lantern's ability to wield their ring effectively. This helped make the color yellow a weakness for the Green Lanterns, preventing them from using their constructs on anything with that particular color. Therefore, it remains imperative that any being recruited into the Corps is able to overcome great fear, lest they succumb to the natural enemy of willpower.
