The DCEU has received criticism for its characters pulling out moves unbefitting of heroes, but Green Lantern's harshest attack with his Power Ring is something even the movies haven't even tried to pull off because it's just way too dark.
While the heroes of DC Comics are no stranger to some particularly brutal fights with their enemies, the films of the DC Extended Universe have come under fire for their interpretations of heroes. From Superman killing Zod in Man of Steel to Batman's body count in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the DCEU gave its heroes some questionable characterizations. Some fans have criticized Batman and Superman's portrayals in the DCEU as being darker than they generally are in the comics while others have defended these scenes as being more nuanced takes on heroism. While the DCEU has course corrected a few times, it still has the reputation for its less heroic versions of DC characters.

But Green Lantern has one move in his arsenal that shows he's not a saint by any means. In Green Lantern #4 by Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver, Hal is called away from Oa to investigate a mysterious being found on an army base. At the same time, an old enemy of Green Lantern’s, Hector Hammond, summons Jordan to discuss the being and what it means for the Earth. Hal journeys to Hammond's prison to interrogate him, but the villain wants something in exchange for his information. Hector asks Jordan for a memory he can vicariously live through and, though repulsed at the idea, Hal agrees.
