The Joker may have a reputation as one of the most disturbing villains in the DC Universe, but Green Lantern has one adversary that makes the Clown Prince of Crime's obsessions look normal by comparison.
Few villains are as known for their antics and methods like the Joker is. From his ghastly appearance to the sickening crimes he commits in the name of his bizarre sense of humor, Joker is the sort of criminal that perturbs even other supervillains. What gives the Joker an extra layer of creepiness is his endearing obsession with his beloved Dark Knight. The Joker's 'love' for Batman has kept the villain in Bruce Wayne's orbit for years and most of the terrifying things Joker does is all to get Batman's attention. When it comes to hero and villain dynamics, Joker's unsettling preoccupation with the Caped Crusader has set a bar that few criminals have been able to surpass.

But, Green Lantern does have an enemy like that in Hector Hammond. And his rogue's perverse fixation goes far beyond anything the Joker's tried to pull off. In Green Lantern #4 by Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver, Hal is looking into a case involving a hyper-evolved human. Hector Hammond, an old Green Lantern villain, holds information that Jordan needs and calls out to his foe. Green Lantern visits Hammond in prison and demands to know what the villain knows about the case, but Hammond wants something in exchange. While Hammond's oversized cranium allows him powerful telepathic abilities, the rest of him is immobile.
