Google Play Store has removed another app that had come under close scrutiny due to a controversy. This social media app that was removed joins a number off other apps that have been removed from Google Play Store for various reasons. This is the popular Bolo Indya app and it was removed after certain accusations were made against it. Google Play Store moved to remove Bolo Indya due to a copyright infringement complaint filed by a music company, Super Cassettes Industries Pvt Ltd, also known as T-Series. After this, in their respective reactions, words like 'habitual offender', 'bad faith' are flying.
T-Series had served an infringement notice to various social media and video sharing platforms about a year ago to pay around ₹3.5 crore in damages arising from the use of its copyrighted contents, reported PTI. While some of the companies have settled the row with T-Series, the same was not the case with Bolo Indya, which was still to come to terms with the demands of the music company.
In his reaction, T-Series President Neeraj Kalyan said, "Bolo Indya is a habitual offender and we had sent them various legal notices but they continued to infringe our copyrights and, thus, we wrote to Google under applicable laws to take down this infringing app from their app store."
The T-Series President added, "We take infringement very seriously and will not shy away from taking more stringent legal action against Bolo Indya and any other such infringing platforms to protect our copyrights." He was speaking to news agency PTI.
