He may be one of the best Green Lanterns in the DC Universe, but Hal Jordan was never more powerful than when he used a Blue Lantern ring in tandem with his Green one. The fascinating connection between Green and Blue Lanterns gave Jordan his biggest boost in power since his Parallax days.
As mighty as the Green Lanterns are, the light that gives them their powers are just a fraction of a mysterious cosmic energy. In the same way that willpower helps one master the green light, feelings such as rage and fear control other parts of the powerful Emotional Spectrum. Though the Green Lantern Corps was the first to create an army around its main power source, rival organizations began to arise after harnessing the Spectrum's other lights. While some corps use their lights to suit their own needs, others want to use their power to change the universe for the better.

Case in point, the Blue Lanterns believe that hope can always save the day. And, in a way, it did when Hal Jordan was briefly possessed by a Red Lantern ring in Green Lantern #38 by Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis. After Sinestro was kidnapped by the Red Lantern Corps, Hal Jordan came to save him. But, Sinestro kills a former Green Lantern who had fallen to the Red Lanterns influence, enraging Jordan and making him a prime target for a Red Lantern ring. Resolute in their hope, the Blue Lanterns believe that Hal Jordan can overcome his possession, and put a Blue Lantern ring on him. The ring purifies Jordan's body, but the ring doesn't turn Hal into a Blue Lantern. Instead, the hero is turned into a hybrid Lantern, with his Green and Blue sides struggling for control.
