In Genshin Impact, the seven Archons were once established as the rulers of Teyvat and its people after the devastating Archon War. Each Archon would directly preside over its region and people, aiding them toward prosperity for thousands of years. However, the arrival of the Fatui and the Traveler would cause the remaining Archons to question their own roles. Some of the Archons have even lost their Gnosis, the ultimate source of power as a god in Teyvat.

Reddit user shoujomujo makes an interesting theory about Hydro Archon Focalors and her Hydro Gnosis, which will likely be targeted by the Fatui Harbingers in Fontaine. Specifically, the user theorizes that Focalors will lose her Hydro Gnosis during the events of the Fontaine story in order to stick to her ideals as an Archon. Focalors currently oversees the judicial system in Fontaine, and the user believes she may lose her Gnosis in a trial against a Fatui Harbinger. Thus far, every Archon the Traveler and Paimon directly encountered in the main story of Genshin Impact lost their Gnosis.
