Animal Crossing: New Horizons sleep patterns are loosely linked to a character's personality, with the Night Owl and Early Bird ordinances inspiring them to stay up later or wake up earlier respectively. Though a personality can affect when the Animal Crossing: New Horizons villagers are sleeping, some fans have experienced moments in which all of them are asleep and unable to speak with.

Reddit user Vqstxr has garnered 5,000 upvotes on an Animal Crossing: New Horizons screenshot focusing on the ferryman Kapp'n who is in his usual resting spot on the pier side of the island. According to Vqstxr, the image is centered on the Animal Crossing character instead of what is usually one of the villagers because all the characters on their island are asleep at the same time. Instead of watching one of the Animal Crossing villagers explore the island while they remain on the title screen, the one that spotlights Kapp'n remains stationary as the character bobs up and down to the waves beneath his boat.
