Foamstars officially launched earlier this week, meaning you can now hop into a game and start duking it out with foam-based weaponry whenever you please. There's also a story element to Foamstars if you're interested in learning more about the game's characters the world, though you will wish you hadn't when you find out that the story reveals the origins of the foam players use in multiplayer battles.

If you naturally assumed that the foam players shoot is some kind of special concoction of chemicals, then Foamstars has played you for a fool. While all the pre-release footage made the game seem fun and wacky, as people spray foam and soap all over each other to win territory, it takes a much darker and slightly more disgusting turn when you find out that the foam is actually the bodily fluids of the game's characters.

This was first noticed by Twitter user Dashiellwood, who shares a screenshot of the game's story mode explaining the origins of the foam. In this screenshot, we see a little girl clearly embarrassed about all the bubbles surrounding her while she's stood in what appears to be a small room or elevator - bubbles that are somehow coming out of her body and head. In the text box in the image, the girl explains that she hates her body for "making foam", and that she's often mocked for it.

Quite how the foam actually materializes is unexplained, though it's speculated that it could either just accumulate on the skin over time, or could be harvested from the bubbles that the girl is producing in the screenshot. This new bit of info also implies that this body foam is collected by characters in Foamstars and then placed into weaponry, rather than something the weapons just generate by themselves. Either way, it's a cursed piece of knowledge that has ensured we will all never play Foamstars the same way ever again.
