Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s long-awaited New Game Plus update has finally been released, adding new features and bonus content that fans have been requesting since the game launched last October. While Spider-Man 2 earned much critical acclaim and quickly became one of Insomniac’s highest-selling titles, players decried not being able to replay story missions without creating a whole new save file, which in turn left them without much to do after clearing Spider-Man 2’s various side-activities the first time.
Insomniac addressed these complaints by announcing a New Game Plus update for Spider-Man 2in December, which would also add new accessibility features and cosmetic options for Peter Parker and Miles Morales. It was later revealed that this update would go live on March 7, allowing players to relive parts of Spider-Man 2’s emotionally gripping story campaign or start the whole plot over again with all of their unlocked suits and abilities carried over.
Now players can finally dive intoSpider-Man 2’s New Game Plus and Mission Replay features, as Patch 1.002.000 is live as of this writing. Included in this New Game Plus update are Ultimate Levels, which allow players to grow Peter and Miles’ experience beyond the base level caps. The newly added Golden Gadget Styles let players upgrade their gadgets with Golden appearances, and they can also use both perks in a given Suit Tech slot with Suit Tech Fusion. Lastly, there is now a PlayStation trophy for completing a game in New Game Plus.
In addition to New Game Plus and mission replay, Spider-Man 2’s latest patch update adds many cosmetic and accessibility options that players have been asking for. Fans can now alter the time of day in the open world of New York City and change the colors of Peter’s Symbiote tendrils. Photo Mode also has a few new options, like new stickers and an Action Figure Mode that shrinks down characters for fun photo opportunities.
