My Time at Sandrock has just rolled out a big new update for the Nintendo Switch version. This patch adds various contents promised since the Kickstarter funding campaign and also fixes performance and visual bugs in the Nintendo Switch version of My Time at Sandrock.
Since My Time at Sandrock was released in 2023, the game has faced several issues in performance and visuals on the Switch, which prompted the release of many patches to address these issues on the Nintendo console. For example, the February update for My Time at Sandrock fixed various bugs and problems that caused the game to freeze at certain quests, among other issues, such as houses disappearing in thin air and the social relationship UI bug that didn't allow players to scroll down the screen.
Pathea Games announced the release of the «New Year Better Me» update, which promises to add a lot of content and also improve the performance and visuals of My Time at Sandrock on the Nintendo Switch. Among the additions are customization items created by Kickstarter backers, an untried roguelike endgame dungeon, a new letter system, a dynamic factory queue system, and the long-desired visual performance and FPS Boost update on the Nintendo Switch. While «New Year Better Me» was released on other platforms in December 2023, the patch is only being released on the Nintendo Switch now.
After its release, My Time at Sandrock topped sales charts in the United States and the United Kingdom. The game scored 80 on Metacritic on both PC and PlayStation 5 but stayed around 60 on the Nintendo Switch due to its performance issues and bugs. Although My Time at Sandrock meets the standards of Stardew Valley, its weak port to the Nintendo handheld has alienated a portion of the audience.
