When it comes to cult classics, you probably won't be able to find a developer out there as consistent with them as Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture. No More Heroes, Lollipop Chainsaw, and Shadows of the Damned are all very well-liked games that never blew anyone away in terms of sales, but the quirky and unique elements of Suda's games have given him a very loyal and adoring fanbase.
Suda51 is now repaying that loyalty with remasters of his classic titles, Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered being one of them. Shadows of the Damned never really sold as well as Lollipop Chainsaw or the No More Heroes series, but Suda recently explained that a sequel would definitely be considered if the game performs well, urging fans to "buy as many copies as you can find" to make that hope a reality.
"Putting out a sequel is definitely something we would like to consider. So, make sure you buy as many copies as you can find in the stores."
However, even if Shadows of the Damned doesn't sell particularly well, Suda claims that his fondness for main character Garcia Hotspur and antagonist Fleming means that they could end up hopping franchises and appearing in something else, even if it isn't a full-blown sequel. Suda even reveals that he almost gave Fleming a "major role" in No More Heroes 3 before eventually deciding against it.
"I do have a soft spot in my heart for the characters in the game, specifically Garcia Hotspur and Fleming," says Suda. "With Fleming, in particular, I strongly considered adding him to No More Heroes 3 and giving him a major role. Having these characters come out in something again, whether it’s a sequel or something else, is highly possible."
So, if you've ever felt like Shadows
