Marvel Rivals was announced earlier today, and unless you've lived under a rock over the past decade, you'll notice that it shares a pretty uncanny resemblance to Overwatch. Both titles sharing the same genre was always going to draw those comparisons, but there seems to be even more similarities when you take a closer look at the game's roster.
Marvel Rivals' full roster was leaked prior to its reveal, and detailed some rather striking similarities to certain Overwatch characters. For example, Loki has an Ultimate ability very similar to that of Echo, but one of the biggest similarities that people have noticed is that the Hulk appears to share a lot of similar mechanics to D.Va.
In the full roster, shared by Twitter user Hzjoe03, you can see that the image depicting the Hulk includes both Hulk himself and Bruce Banner, implying you'll play as both. Hzjoe03 claims that Hulk will function similarly to D.Va, in the he'll be able to switch out of Hulk mode at certain times, and you can actually see him quickly transform in the game's trailer.
Adding to that theory is another image of Bruce Banner shared by Twitter user Lunwi88, this time wielding a gun of some kind while fighting. Overwatch fans will know that once D.Va takes enough damage, she'll hop out of her mech and start shooting enemies on foot in a much weaker state, before eventually hopping back into te mech once enough time has passed. It's not confirmed, but it seems like the Hulk shares a pretty similar mechanic in Marvel Rivals.
That's pretty odd, especially when it's established that the Hulk gets angrier when taking damage, and therefore becomes more powerful, but we don't know enough about the character's playstyle to have an informed opinion about him just yet. It's also kind of weird that Marvel Rivals includes Peni Parker, a Spider-Man variant that has her own mech, and she's not the one getting the D.Va treatment. I guess you've got to get Hulk's transforming powers in there somewhere.
