Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update has reportedly added a new way to complete the Mayor Lewis quest and unlock the Lucky Purple Shorts item. In a recent update, developer Eric Barone has teased Stardew Valley players by introducing a certain twist to this quest that references an old in-game bug.
This particular quest from Mayor Lewis is one that appears early in the game — on the third day of the first in-game year — meaning most players are likely to encounter it. Its objective involves finding and then returning Mayor Lewis’ missing shorts from Marnie’s Ranch, without attracting any attention. However, a curious bug allowed players to get a pair of these shorts easily by putting a crafted staircase in the «pants» clothing slot of a character.
During a Twitch stream by user Bla_De, the player stumbled upon a brand-new way to find Mayor Lewis’ lost shorts in Stardew Valley. Conventionally, players would have to first establish a strong relationship with Marnie and gain access to her room to retrieve the mayor’s shorts. But, the new method lets fans take a shortcut by using a crafted staircase in the mayor’s bedroom, which is a reference to the bug that involves using the same item for completing the objective.
To successfully carry this out, players have to set up the crafted staircase in Stardew Valley at a clear spot in the bedroom and make it past the subsequent maze. After that, they have to escape the undefeatable flying shorts monster by backtracking through the maze. Adding to the fun, players can do these steps a ridiculous number of times and go on to accumulate 99 Trimmed Lucky Purple Shorts.
This isn’t the only popular bug that the developer has given a nod to. To be precise, fans have also come across a creepy cutscene in Stardew Valley that criticizes the player for exploiting the bug that lets them access a secret location earlier than intended.
Besides adding these amusing bug references in Stardew Valley, the developer has introduced certain more significant
