Dragon's Dogma 2 can be an absolutely brutal game when it wants to be, but one of the most punishing features has to be Dragonsplague. It's a sickness that can affect your Pawns, eventually turning them into disobedient little nuisances that can eventually go on to wipe out entire villages if left long enough. Players have resorted to extreme methods to avoid the spread, including throwing their Pawns into the ocean if they sense a whiff of disobedience.
However, it turns out that there's a little bit more to Dragonsplague that meets the eye, as the sickness has been foreshadowing the game's true ending this entire time. If it's not obvious by now, we're about to get deep into endgame spoilers for Dragon's Dogma 2, so duck out now if you don't want the game's true ending spoiled.
If you're still with me, the way in which Dragonsplague foreshadows the game's true ending is in the cutscene that plays when your Pawn is fully taken over by the illness. Upon resting at an inn or your house, a scene will play that has your Pawn standing in a mysterious dark void, their eyes glowing an evil shade of red. Eventually, they take the form of a spooky black dragon and lose control of their senses, going on to wipe out whatever village you're staying in.
If you've seen the true ending of Dragon's Dogma 2, you'll probably notice that this process is pretty familiar. While your main pawn will turn into the exact same spooky black dragon during the Dragonsplague cutscene, it's explained that your greater will has given them a powerful will of their own which stops them from losing control and obliterating the local peasantry. You and your Pawn-turned-dragon then go on to fight in the game's climax.
