DCU boss James Gunn has opened up about working with The Flash actor Grant Gustin, providing a hopeful update about the actor’s introduction in the newly formed DC Universe.
Now that Warner Bros. and DC are likely parting ways with Ezra Miller after The Flash, fans have asked the production giants to introduce Gustin as the new Flash. Many fans want the Arrowverse star to join the DCU, but nothing has been made official yet. However, a recent comment made by Gunn has intrigued fans and made them hopeful that Gustin could join the DCU one day.
On his official Threads account, the Guardians of the Galaxy director responded to a fan’s appeal about including Gustin in the DCU. The fan said that the makers should cast the actor in one of the upcoming movies because all of his talent is “going to waste.” Gunn didn’t wait long to respond to the fan and noted that he would love to work with Gustin at some given point. However, he clarified that the actor is not associated with any DCU project. Gunn wrote, “Grant is an incredibly talented guy, performing now on Broadway, I believe, and is absolutely not going to waste just because he’s not currently in a DC project. But, of course, I’d love to work with him at some point.”
The most straightforward possibility for Gustin's comeback would involve him reprising the role of Barry Allen. Several reports have shown that Gunn will replace all the Justice League actors for the DCU. Plus, with the lackluster performance of Miller's The Flash at the box office and all the controversies surrounding the actor, the role is up for grabs. Having already played a beloved live-action of The Flash, Gustin could potentially portray a different version of Barry in the DCU. It shouldn’t be surprising that fans want Gustin to be a part of the DCU. He has played the fastest man alive in the Arrowverse and gave several iconic moments to the fans.
Gunn's comments came almost a week after Gustin expressed his willingness to join the DCU. In a video
