Hasbro and Magic: The Gathering/Dungeons & Dragons parent company Wizards of the Coast announced that it has "about 40" video games in the works and that it hopes to collaborate with Baldur's Gate 3 developer Larian Studios again as it pushes further into the medium.
Video games continue to be one of our investment areas - Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro Gaming president Cynthia Williams.
"We are aggressively investing in [gaming], seeking the best partners in the world to work with on interesting experiences on every platform, in every genre," Hasbro's senior vice president of digital strategy and licensing told Game File. "I was hanging out with [Larian Studios] last night. I hope that we will be able to continue to work with them."
Last year, Hasbro announced that it was laying off 20 percent of its staff, or 1,100 people, after firing 800 that same year. This happened amidst reports of five cancelled video game projects and weak toy sales, creating a "narrative" of Hasbro scaling back its push into gaming.
However, it has spent $1 billion on first-party video games and is in fact expanding its efforts. Williams also added that the job cuts did not affect developers "in any significant way".

Whatever the case, with Hasbro wanting to continue its working relationship, perhaps those wishes are less a fantasy than we thought.
In the meantime, Hasbro has a few upcoming projects pulled from its diverse portfolio in the works - there's a Transformers game called Reactive, a sci-fi RPG called Exodus, and a G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes game, as well as its ongoing multiplayer
