The Mission: Impossible film franchise is almost 30 years old with seven feature films with the latest, Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One, finally arriving in theaters this week. The road to this movie was paved with numerous setbacks, but from the reviews so far, it looks like it will be well worth the wait.
The stunts we've seen up til now have been some of the biggest ever made for a single movie production, including Tom Cruise learning how to speedfly and having a whole train built just to destroy it--which can be seen in the final trailer below. Check it out!
Tom Cruise once again will be playing the main franchise protagonist, Ethan Hunt, with his core team of Luther and Benji (Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg) returning for this outing as well. Rebecca Ferguson's Ilsa, who's been positioned as sort of the British version of Ethan over the last couple of movies, will also show up. Another returning star will be Vanessa Kirby, who stole the show in Fallout as the sophisticated and seductive arms dealer Alanna Mitsopolis.
As for new cast members who may or may not have ties to Ethan's past in some way, there's Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Carey Elwes, Indira Varma, Shea Whigham, and even comedian Rob Delaney, joining in on the action and adventure for this go around.
Christopher McQuarrie--who previously wrote and directed the last two Mission: Impossible films (Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation) and the first Jack Reacher movie, as well as co-wrote Top Gun: Maverick--wrote and directed this film.
Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One hits theaters July 12.
