The upcoming Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree expansion has been rated in the US by the ESRB, but its description might come across as familiar.
Elden Ring's first official expansion is launching later this year on June 21, and ahead of its release, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has rated the expansion as "Mature 17" with blood and gore as well as suggestive themes, language, and violence - similar to the main game.
That's not the only thing that's the same, however, as the description of Shadow of the Erdtree is the same as that of 2022's Elden Ring. Instead of providing additional details about the game and its scenes, it appears that someone has copy-pasted the ESRB description of Elden Ring for its expansion as well. We've included screenshots of both ratings below for the sake of completeness:
The release date for the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion was revealed back in February of this year alongside a trailer for the DLC. This trailer showed off new bosses as well as mysterious realms. As said, the expansion launches on June 21 at $40. We've included the trailer that Bandai Namco and FromSoftware released below:
Shadow imbued with mystery, perilous dungeons, and new enemies, weapons and equipment. Discover uncharted territories, face formidable adversaries, and revel in the satisfying triumph of victory. Dive into the riveting interplay of characters, where drama and intrigue intertwine, that create an immersive experience to savor and enjoy.”
