Developer Sandlot and publisher D3Publisher have announced that the western release window for co-op shooter Earth Defense Force 6 is being delayed from its originally planned Spring 2024 window to Summer 2024. For context, the game has already been released in Japan back in August 2022.
According to the announcement, the decision to delay the western release was made in order to allow to add polish to the game and finalise preparations for the game’s release outside of Japan. The Summer 2024 release window includes a western release for Earth Defense Force 6 on PC, PS4 and PS5.
Since its Japanese release back in 2022, the game saw a bit of success, having sold more than 300,000 copies in its first week of release. Since then, however the developer and publisher have been quiet about the game aside from the original announcement of its western release.
Earth Defense Force 6 takes place a few years after the events of Earth Defense Force 5, and involves the eponymous Earth Defense Force saving humanity from a new alien threat. For more details, check out a gameplay trailer released back in 2021.
