Dungeons & Dragons Online is previewing Update 59 on the Lamannia server, which is set to open today through Thursday, April 6th.
Part of the update is dedicated to various performance improvements. The Standing Stone Games team is improving performance and reducing lag by changing how bonuses are calculated on the backend. The affected bonuses number more than 485, and just a few of them include attack bonuses, toggled bonuses, Feats, blocking bonuses, and more.
Since this is a test, the team is asking for feedback and any discrepancies in bonuses on character sheets in order to make sure this change is working as intended. Since there are so many affected bonuses, some of them don't even show up on the character sheets, so basically if your character experience and your abilities seem weird, let the team know.
Update 59, the Droaam Legendary Update, adds Legendary versions of the first three Droaam quests. When the update hits live, Legendary versions of the reward items will also be included, but they’re in the Test Dojo. The update will move free to play quest NPCs to more prominent locations and remove prerequisites from those three quests. There will also be some fixes and other small feature tweaks.
Also in the Test Dojo will be a new Underdark-themed mount. This new mount will actually debut sometime after Update 59, and the team is keeping tight-lipped on just where or how you’ll obtain it.
The DDO team needs some test data on that new mount, so if you’re testing new content over the next two days, you can check this one out as it will be using a new rig type. The test focus is on animation bugs, since they’ll want a new type of mount to get a smooth introduction.
