Yesterday, Nintendo promised we'd get one last trailer for the anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom before the game launches in May, and today they delivered in a big way. For those who may have been slightly underwhelmed by previous Tears of the Kingdom teaser trailers or hoped they showed more of the game’s story and world, this trailer is for you. You can check it out for yourself, below.
In addition to a more detailed look at the new sky islands, this last The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom trailer shows a number of new ways Breath of the Wild’s new Hyrule has changed, including what looks to be some new settlements. We also get hints of what appear to be dungeon-like settings unlike anything seen in Breath of the Wild. Large environments, full of complex traps, challenges, and unique bosses.
In terms of story, we see Ganon’s castle rise again, although this time we won’t be dealing with the monstrous force-of-nature that was Calamity Ganon, but rather, the more charismatic, intelligent Ganondorf as seen in games like Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess. The trailer also teases Zelda’s role in the story, hinting at something "only [she] can do." Could we actually be getting playable Zelda segments? Don’t get your hopes too high for that, but who knows?
My description is really only scratching the surface – I’m sure hardcore fans will be digging details out of this trailer right up until launch (and beyond). Overall, pretty epic stuff that should dissuade anybody afraid Tears of the Kingdom is just “Breath of the Wild DLC.” Haven’t been keeping up with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? Here’s everything you need to know.
