Netflix has released an official trailer for FUBAR, a new action series starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in his first regular TV appearance. The series is inspired by his 1994 hit film True Lies, and is set to begin streaming on May 25.
In FUBAR, Schwarzenegger plays a father who, along with his daughter (portrayed by Monica Barbaro) discovers that they have been secretly working as CIA Operatives for years, and their relationship has been built on lies. Forced to team up as partners, the series promises to explore universal family dynamics against a global backdrop of spies, action, and humor.
Barbaro, known for her role in Top Gun Maverick, was famously one of the few actors who did not experience motion sickness during the intense flight training exercises for that film. Here, she'll be going head-to-head against the 76-year-old iconic actor and former California governor.
«Everywhere I go, people ask me when I'm going to do another big action comedy like True Lies. Well, here it is,» Schwarzenegger said in a statement. «FUBAR will kick your ass and make you laugh--and not just for two hours. You get a whole season. It's been a joy… to give my fans exactly what they've been waiting for.»
FUBAR, an eight-episode series, features an ensemble cast including Jay Baruchel, Fortune Feimster, Milan Carter, Travis Van Winkle, Gabriel Luna, Andy Buckley, Aparna Brielle, Barbara Eve Harris, and Fabiana Udenio. The series is executive produced by Schwarzenegger, Adam Higgs, and Scott Sullivan, as well as Skydance's David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Bill Bost.
FUBAR is set to start streaming on Netflix on May 25.
